On Saturday May 24th and Sunday May 25th, more than 100 parties energised the life of Turin, thanks to the involvement of the Circoscrizioni, Case del Quartiere and ATC. The initiative saw residents come together for social lunches, games, entertainment and music in both private courtyards and public spaces including schools, squares, church halls and gardens, strengthening their sense of community and neighbourhood.
Via Po Celebration
Among other important events, the City of Turin organised a special party to celebrate the reopening of Via Po following recent redevelopment works. On Sunday May 25th, from 10 am to 6 pm, the road became a space for celebration and sharing: an official opening ceremony, a collective lunch, theatrical, musical and street artist performances, shops open to the public and various other activities taking place in nearby venues.
The day also saw the launch of the civic initiative “European Ties”, a quintessential part of the journey towards Turin’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2033. The initiative, organised in collaboration with volunteer projects GXT and Senior Civico, aims to map out the personal and emotional connections between residents of Turin and those of other European cities. A constantly evolving network that brings the European vision of our candidacy directly to the people, highlighting connections between both institutions and citizens.
